Wesley Schaefer is a multi-talented, world-class photographer. After high school he attended the New Mexico Military Institute, commissioned as an officer, and went on to the University of Alaska to finish his Bachelors and join the Alaska National Guard. Wes graduated with a B.A. in Photojournalism and is always up for a challenge. From the Ferguson riots, to the famous Iditarod Sled Dog Race, Wes can handle a variety of situations and conditions. Wes enjoys walking between the worlds of journalism, documentary photography, and fine art. His fine art and documentary work have been featured in multiple art shows in Alaska and Washington, DC. His photojournalism work has been published in multiple news sources including The Guardian, the Fairbanks Daily-News Miner, Discovery.com, as well the Oxford University Press. He currently works as a product photographer for an antique lighting restoration company, while also working freelance. In his spare time Wes enjoys teaching photography to a variety of age ranges, as well as donating his time and talent as a photographer for the American Red Cross and the Missouri Botanical Gardens. He enjoys shooting digital, as well as film, including 35mm, 120, and 4x5. He’s always looking for something new and challenging to shoot!
